Under tiles, in gaps beneath window sills, and most typically under eaves and within gables.  The nest is made of air-borne material caught in flight, bonded with their saliva.
Insects cuaght in flight.
38 - 40 cms.
Entirely blackish-brown except for a small white or pale grey patch on their chins. They have a short forked tail and very long swept-back wings.
Non-breeding individuals may spend up to ten months in continuous flight. Swifts eat, drink and sleep in flight.
They breed in the summer and migrate to Africa for the winter.
They leave around August and arrive back in April.
2 - 3 white eggs.
