From 10 to 80 cms diameter.
10 - 50 cms long.
Late Summer - Autumn.
Edible - although ensure that any Giant Puffballs that you gather for food are fresh and white throughout.
Puffballs are a known styptic and have long been used as wound dressing, either in powdered form or as slices 3 cm thick. The fungus was often harvested prior to battles for this purpose.

When picking any fungus for consumption, caution should be exercised at all times.
