Deciduous and Coniferous forests. 1 - 6 cms. 12 cms. Deep violet colour when wet but Pale Grey when dry. Late summer - Early winter. Edible but can absorb arsenic from the soil. When picking any fungus for consumption,
caution should be exercised at all times.
