Found on the dead wood of conifers.
When fresh and very young its cap is more or less orange, but as it matures brown colours replace the orange from the centre outwards and it may even have a greenish tinge. The gills are orangey.
Can be seen throughout the year, but it sporulates in late summer to autumn.
Inedible.

When picking any fungus for consumption, caution should be exercised at all times.
