It is a parent of some ornamental plants produced by crossing with strawberries. Potentilla ( Cinquefoils ) contains over 300 species of annual, biennial and perennial herbaceous flowering plants in the Rose family, Rosaceae. Some cinquefoils, like the Marsh Cinquefoil, are now separated in a distinct genus, hence 'Comarum palustre'
