Larval Food: Adult Food: Length: Habitat: Flies/Found: Feature: Aphids. Pollen/Nectar 6 - 11 mm Patches of flowers in fields, road verges, gardens and alongside hedgerows March - November. They were used experimentally as a method of aphid control, and to control scale insects and aphids in fruit plantations. However, they were found to be partial to the fruit, eating more fruit than aphids.
