Similar to Orange Balsam, it is native to Central Asia - Siberia and Turkistan. It is widely naturalised in the UK and most of Europe. It was first recorded in Cheshire in 1848. The flower is chiefly pollinated by the hoverfly, or it is self-pollinated. It's fruit capsules explode to disperse its seeds.
