Both sexes are dark brown with a pale band running the length of the carapace and continuing to the first half of the abdomen. Females carry an egg sac around on their abdomen for around 3 weeks until spiderlings emerge and gather on the mother's back.
Insects.
Female: 15 - 25 mm. Male: 10+
Grassland, woodland, scrub, and lawns.
April - June.
None. Hunts on the ground.
