Disturbed ground in woodland, gardens, and parks. 
Expanding from 4 - 12 cms diameter.
5 - 10 cms.
April - November.
An edible mushroom; however, unless they are cooked and eaten soon after they have been gathered, any meal made from these fungi is likely to end up a black soggy mess.


When picking any fungus for consumption, caution should be exercised at all times.
