Deciduous
broadleaf trees and conifers and a very common find on mud, rich in
leaf litter, beside tree-lined roads.
1.5 - 3.5 cms.
Up to 6 cms tall and 3 - 6 mm in diameter.
Summer - Autumn.
Deadly
poisonous.
Eating these can cause excessive salivation and
sweating, abdominal pains, sickness and diarrhoea,
together
with blurred vision and laboured breathing. No deaths reported yet but
anyone with an underlying medical condition could be at serious risk.
When picking any fungus for consumption,
caution should be exercised at all times.
