Breeds in subarctic wetlands from the Scottish Highlands
across Europe and Asia.
Insects and small prey.
A short fine bill, brown back and yellowish legs,  with a
conspicuous long white stripe from the bill over the eye
to the back of the neck. In flight, it shows no wing-stripes
and a square white rump.
Four pale green eggs are laid between March and May.
Can potentially cross distances of up to 4500 km in one
non-stop flight.
